Obituary of Eddie Jo Dodds

Eddie Jo Dodds passed away peacefully at Trellis Supportive Care on September 8, 2019 surrounded by his wife, sons and daughters-in-law.

Eddie was born on January 4, 1958, in Kittanning, PA, to George and Irma Dodds. He met his wife, Karen when he moved to Winston Salem in 1978. They married on August 25, 1984 and within seven years had two children of their own. His family was his pride and joy and he spent the remainder of his life showing them not only how, but what it means to be a great man, husband, father and “Pop Pop.”

Eddie, for 40 years, was a professional truck driver and logged millions of miles and had several impressive honors on his resume. He was recognized as Fastenal’s back to back Driver of the Year in 2017 and 2018, and was well on his way to a third award. Eddie was also an exceptional handyman and used his knowledge and skills to transform his family’s house into their dream home.

Eddie lived a very fulfilling 61 years and was the same strong and selfless man down to his final moments. He stood for what he believed and without hesitation he would always lend a helping hand to a friend or neighbor never expecting anything in return. He loved his family unconditionally and gave so much of himself, always. A man of great integrity!

Eddie is survived by his wife Karen; two sons and their wives, Jared and Jessica, Andrew and Kaitlyn. Four grandchildren; Aubrey, Korbin, Brady and Brynnley Jo. Brothers, George, Jack, William, Audie, Richard, Robert, Randall, Kevin; and sisters JoAnn Hornyak, Beverly Elliot, Sandra Smith and Karen Vose.

He was preceded in death by his father, George Dodds, mother, Irma Dodds and brother, Gregory Dodds.
