Obituary of Antonius Adalbert Walker
Antonius “Tony” Adalbert (Prochazka) Walker was born in Eindhoven, the Netherlands
on 5 June 1943. He entered into The Lord’s Holy Kingdom on Saturday 6 July 2019 at
11:45 am at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Tony
always cherished Saturday as Mary’s Day — a day dedicated to our most Holy Mother
— as he would regale proudly that there was always a ray of sunlight to be found, even
on the darkest of days.
Tony grew up in Vienna, Austria before immigrating to Astoria, Queens, New York with
his mother, father and older brother; Ernestine, Edward and Gottfried Prochazka in May
1956. He is survived by his loving and supportive wife of 49 years, Patricia Ellen
Walker, daughters Elizabeth Virginia Walker Ferm and Ellen Margaret Walker, son
Edward Gravesen Gottfried Walker, son-in-law Jens Ola Ferm and three grandchildren
Karl Edward, Alexander Christer and Ava Elizabeth Ferm.
Tony attended California State University Fullerton and graduated with a bachelor of
science in civil engineering. He served in the US Army as a Staff Sergeant during the
Vietnam War from 1966–1969. He spent his entire successful career at AT&T. Starting
as a lineman and most recently as an account executive managing the
telecommunications for Bank of America, Tony moved to and lived in Charlotte towards
the end of his time at AT&T and retired in 1998 at the age of 55. The caregivers for both
of their mothers — while simultaneously raising their own children — Tony and Patricia
were collectively a loving pair and one of the most formidable couples one could ever
know.
A mass in Tony’s honor was held at Saint Gabriel Catholic Church on Thursday 18 July
2019. His remains will be housed in a National Military Cemetery to be named at a
future date.
