Obituary of Edward Junior Robinson

Edward "Eddie" Junior Robinson, 68, of Thomasville, NC passed away peacefully at his home from a brief battle with cancer on Sunday, May 5, 2019. Eddie was born on December, 24, 1950 in Oliver Springs, TN, to the late Clifford and Jessie Robinson. Eddie was an accomplished guitarist, singer, songwriter, and poet. He had several of his works published including two songs for his late wife, Carolyn, called “Hey There Ol' Fiddle" and "Babydoll In Tennessee." He also had a poem published written for his granddaughter, Jesse MayAnna, called "Put On Your Happy Face Baby."

Eddie was making a name for himself in Nashville, TN, but the Lord had other plans. In 1980, his 5 year old daughter, Sandora, was critically injured when she was struck by a car coming home from school. Music would wait for his little girl to recover. God’s grace shined on her healing her in a short time. However, in 1987, Eddie had a recording contract in Nashville, TN when his young wife was diagnosed with terminal breast cancer. He immediately went to be with her, but after 8 months she passed away. Her passing sent him into a depression that caused him to be mute for two years.

His parents and family brought him home to High Point, NC. During his silence he studied to be a welder, later working as a certified welder and looking after his parents. Then, in 1995, another tragedy came when Eddie's 25 year old son, Tony, was hit by a car crossing the street in Wilmington, NC.  Eddie once again left everything to be with his son. The doctors gave Tony a 10% chance to live, but God intervened with another miracle. Eddie stayed with him for over a year in the hospital while Tony received the therapy he needed to be able to return home. They returned to Thomasville, NC, where his parents had retired continuing a 6 year rehabilitation period for his son who has been independent ever since.

During that time Eddie obtained a Diploma from The Voice of Prophecy Worldwide Bible Broadcasts in Los Angeles, California in 2005 and many other similar certificates. He stayed and cared for his parents until they passed. Eddie could quote scripture fluently and his special bond with the Lord was manifested throughout his life. He would say and pray daily into his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He spoke of the providential love of God and say "I'm shutting the world out and letting Jesus in."  Being a musician, he would say “Don’t get off key now," when he was referring to a negative attitude.  He loved to laugh and say "I'm looking for my blessing."

Eddie is survived by his children Tony Robinson, Crystal Clodfelter, Sandora Robinson and Troy Lax, and Sarena Robinson. Grandchildren are Chelsie, Jesse, Dylan, Olivia, Logan, Sesilia, Alisia, Raul, Justice, and great grandchildren, Ryder, Porter, and Audrey. Brother, CL Robinson and wife, Frankie of Athens, TN. Honorable mention to Mr. Archie Witherspoon, best friend and neighbor.  He is preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Sue Robinson. Parents, Clifford and Jessie Robinson. Brother, Jimmy Robinson and sister, Sandora, "Susie" Tilly.
