Such a sweet man glad I had the pleasure of knowing him if only for a short time. May God comfort you and give you peace.

I met Greg Marshall in 1987 while working at Ferguson Mftg on Kapp St.
I eventually came to meet his parents, Hal and Dot.
Hal was reserved, but very kind to me.
He and Dorothy were quite busy in those days. Their garden was filled with tomatoes, green beans, yellow squash and white corn. Much of it would be canned for yummy winter meals. The surplus given to neighbors or the needy. (And to me. I spent several summers needing little more than bread and mayo to get by....tomato sandwiches!)
I came to learn that finding an antique, restoring it to its original beauty, then selling it, could turn a nice profit for those willing to put in the effort.
I know that Hal especially enjoyed his young neighbors amd would share their profound utterances with a warm smile.
His son, Greg, often shared his memories of time spent with his dad.
A favorite was during the time Greg played for a Kville Little League team.
Yes, the bases were loaded and yes, Greg was next at bat.
Greg claimed that as he was walking to the plate, he could hear his team-mates grumble and groan. This at bat would win or lose the game, and faith in Greg's ability to pull it off was low.
But with his dad cheering him on, he managed a hit and brought all the bases in. He didn't make it to home himself, but he won the game that day. And Greg said his dad was so proud of him.
My deepest condolences to Halbert's family for their loss.
