Obituary of Virginia Lou Russo

Beloved Virginia,(12-15-1936 to 04-16-2019)  you were so much to so many, you now rest in peace in the arms of Christ.

You are sitting at the feet of Jesus in His eternal grace. Virginia Lou Russo lived a humble life as a God fearing woman; her soul was gentle and kind, her laugh was light and sweet.

Virginia proudly read the Holy Bible through in abundance with her favorite books being Isaiah, Wisdom and Revelation. She was a staunch republican and kept up with the current political scene. She loved to watch CNN, Criminal Minds and most of all cooking shows. She was a faithful member of St. Leo the Great Catholic Church for more than 30 years and attended church until she could no longer drive.

Virginia also worked for Taylor Brothers Tobacco in Winston-Salem, NC for 27 years and truly enjoyed her career there.

To know our mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and friend was to know a true angel on earth. Virginia Lou Russo (Carrico) was born in Little Rock, Arkansas to Glenn and Ora Carrico. The Carrico family moved to Walnut Cove, NC where Virginia's brother Joe Carrico (DSCD) joined their beautiful family. Mr. Glenn Carrico lost his life in June 1943. Ms.Ora Carrico met and married Mr. George Craig and there began a new family. Virginia spent many days reminiscing of her family and the happy times they spent together. Virginia was known as "Sister" to her beloved siblings: Dale Craig (DSCD) (Joan), Rev. Ricky Craig (Wanda), Robin Bowman (Russell), and Scott Craig (Rhonda). She loved to take care of her brothers and sister. Virginia met Ralph Russo Jr. (DSCD) and married September 11, 1959 and having six children that she loved and cherished. Virginia was an amazing woman, she was steadfast in her beliefs, never wavering in her care of her children.

She is survived by Kelly Wiatrolik (Joey DSCD), Tyra Edge (Robert), Joe Russo, Tami Muto (Harold), Tina Russo (RIck) and April Russo (Rafael). Virginia and Ralph welcomed grand children Jason Brown (Andi), Robert Edge III (Erin) and Joseph Edge (Whitney), into their lives prior to our fathers death in 1986. The joy both of our parents shared was tremendous to have been able to hold their grandchildren.

Virginia rallied and was a fierce and independent woman and welcomed grandchildren Blaise Wray (John), Joseph Wiatrolik, Nicholas Leon, JR Collins, Matthew Leon and great grandchildren Landon Wray, Bella Wray, Gabriel Wray, and Kinsley Edge.

All of Virginia's family, children, grand children, and great grandchildren brought so much joy and laughter to her life.
