Obituary of Corinne Martin Veneziano

Corinne “Connie” Martin Veneziano, devoted wife, mother and grandmother, passed away on March 22, 2019 in Winston-Salem, NC. Connie was the daughter of the late William Ward Martin and Thelma Elizabeth Cook. She was born May 23, 1928 in Wytheville, Virginia where she spent the majority of her life. She was a graduate of Wytheville High School and attended Radford College. 
 
Connie was a partner with her husband, Sammy Veneziano, in operating Modern Shoe Store, one of the oldest local businesses in Wytheville, until retirement in 2011. Connie’s family had a long history in Wytheville that went back hundreds of years. There are many fascinating stories handed down to family, friends and historians about those early days in town. 
 
Connie is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Sammy Veneziano. Also preceding her in death is one brother, William “Bill” Martin. She is survived by two daughters, Suzanne Veneziano Prince and husband Guynn of Fuquay Varina, NC; and Sandra Veneziano Mills and husband David, of Winston-Salem, NC. Also surviving are three grandchildren: Anne-Marie Mills, Natalie Mills and Ella Prince. 
 
The family would like to express heartfelt thanks to all the staff at Arbor Acres Retirement Community for their loving care and support over the past seven years.
 
Family will receive friends at Barnett Highland Funeral Home from 3:00 - 3:45pm on March 30, 2019. A graveside service will follow at 4 pm at East End Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to Arbor Acres Endowment Fund, 1240 Arbor Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27104.
