To the family and friends of Bruce:
I’ve been thinking about Bruce and all the great things he did that made him special to friends and colleagues alike. First of all, he was a friend and so tolerant of everyone who wasn’t as competent as he was in life and profession. He was also a great mentor for me while he was at the WRBU. His ceaseless advocacy for this research unit within Walter Reed Research Institute saved it from the chopping block so often that I think the Army finally gave up trying to eliminate it. Last, and far from least, he always made time for his fellow mosquito biologists to educate them and inspire them to excel in their work. When it came to being an arbiter of a tricky mosquito ID, he was the gold standard. His papers and ID keys were always in demand and he worked them to perfection. Less than a handful of researchers could command the knowledge and respect of medical entomology he held. To be in the field doing research with him was not just a lesson in research, it was fun. Everyone who knew him loved him for showing them the path forward. It will be a rare person that will equal all the great qualities he showed us as a person and professional. I doubt I will meet another like him in my life. Rest In Peace, Bruce.

To The Harrison Family;
Bruce was a superstar, to put it plainly. He was passionate about his family, passionate about his service to country, passionate about mosquitoes, and passionate about learning (for himself, as well as others).
Bruce was one of my mentors as I slowly climbed the ladder of military entomology, and I am forever grateful. And, I am so happy that Bruce lived long enough to know that he received the Medal of Honor from the American Mosquito Control Association! Knowing him, he might have said something like 'it's about damn time'!!
God bless you all!

Bruce was a friend, a colleague, and mentor. As good a guy as you’ll ever meet. We will not likely see his professional equal anytime soon. And such a great human being! It is so hard to lose him. His like, if we ever see it again, will be the rarest of persons.
Love to Bruce’s family because they did everything to sustain him throughout his life, and surely greatly assisted in him reaching his goals and achievements.
Sincere condolences in his loss.
