Obituary of John Brian Degnan

John “Jack” Brian Degnan, 72, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2021 with his family at his side in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Jack grew up in Madison, New Jersey, with his brothers and sister, and spent many years in Fort Lauderdale, Florida where he met his loving wife, Mary Jane. A graduate of Seton Hall University, Jack spent his career helping create beautiful things working in the graphic design industry, including managing his own business. He had an impeccable eye for design and after he retired, he put his skills to use selecting great gifts for his family. More than anything, his family remembers Jack as a devoted husband and father who was one hell of a chef. On Sundays, you could find Jack sitting by the fire, reading The New York Times, watching the Formula 1 race and taking a quick nap. Whether he knew you for 10 years, or 10 minutes, Jack always wanted to learn more about people and loved chatting up everyone who came his way. His wife said that one of the things she loved most about him was his ability to get along with everyone from anywhere. Jack Degnan was preceded in death by his father John, his mother Helen, and sister Donna. He is survived by his wife, Mary Jane, his son, Evan, daughter-in-law, Erin, brothers, Peter, Gary and Matthew, nieces Tara Degnan and Madison Degnan and his beloved cats, Fuji and Sake.
