Obituary of Charles Dwight Carey

Mr. Charles Dwight Carey was born on August 11, 1973 to the Late Charlie Carey Jr. and Beverly Carey in Paterson, NJ. Charles, whom was lovingly called “Chucky", was called home on Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at the family home in Winston-Salem, NC. Charles was educated in the Paterson Public Schools system. He attended and graduated from Public School # 21 and Eastside High School Class of 1992, where he was a member of the Eastside Ghosts Football Team. Charles attended Passaic County Community College in Paterson, NJ and Upsala College in East Orange, NJ prior to relocating with his family to Walterboro, SC. It is in South Carolina where Chucky’s only child, a son was born. Charles and his family later relocated to Winston-Salem, NC. Charles was preceded in death by his Father, Charlie Carey Jr., his paternal Grandparents, Charlie Sr. and Susie Carey and his maternal Grandparents, Jessie and Catherine Washington. Charles leaves to cherish his memory; his Mother Beverly Carey, his son Zamir Carey, his sisters, Shonnette Laylor (Dougal), of Paterson, NJ and Theresa Carey of Winston-Salem, NC, his nieces; Kyri Alexander of Winston-Salem, NC and Shania and Senora Laylor of Paterson, NJ, one ‘brother’, his friend since high school, Sean Goines, and a host of Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. Charles smiling face and humorous personality will be missed and never forgotten. *There will be a Private Cremation*
