Obituary of James William Long, Jr.

James “Jim” William Long, Jr., 70, died Monday September 13, 2021 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC. Jim was born February 28, 1951 at Bel Air Hospital in Hollywood, California to the late Mary Elaine Mott Long and James William Long. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his sisters, Brenda Sue Long Espinoza and Deborah Long Knight. Survivors include his son, James Elmer Long of Lexington, NC; daughter, Tanya Mellisa Long and husband, Douglas Lee Wise of Randolph, WI; sisters, Glynda Long DeVelazco, Patricia Ann Long Wheeles, Michelle Lee Long Denny, Christina Lynn Long Denny and Georgia Ann Long; brothers, Patrick Dennis Long, Michael Allen Long, William Pelham Long and Philip Aaron Long. Jim was an enrolled Tribal Member of the Wyandotte Nation. Our Dad was happiest when he was in nature, and he loved a good bonfire. The Ponderosa Kids will also remember with fondness the times sitting around the bonfire talking. One of our Dad’s long-time hobbies was BBQing; he loved to “Burn Some Meat”. Dad we know you enjoyed your last Burn.
