Obituary of Richard Shore

Richard Stephen Shore, 79, peacefully passed away on July 23, 2021. He was born June 15, 1942, in Forsyth Co. to the late John B. Shore and Elsie Pauline Voss Shore. He grew up in East Bend, graduating from East Bend High School in 1960. He was a devoted and loving father. He loved his lifelong career of farming, where he was his own boss, starting in NC with tobacco and soybeans, then to produce, squash and cucumbers. He then moved to Ft. Myers, FL where he had over 5000 acres of squash along with two U-Pick farms where the best tomatoes and strawberries were grown. He loved fishing with his friends and with his grandson Garrett. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Stephanie Lee Shore; brothers, John ‘Benny’ Shore and Harold Shore. He is survived by his daughters, Courtney (Rufus) Brickey of East Bend and Julie Shore (Arla Johnson) of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada; grandson, Garrett Brickey; brother, Norman Shore. We would like to thank Wake Forest Care at Home Hospice Wilkes – CeCe, Carla, Dr. Albert, Erika, Ginger, and Stewart for their exceptional care and friendship and for Romie and Brenda Flynn for their support.
