Obituary of Betty Jane Drake

Betty Jane Boquist Drake, 90, of Winston-Salem, NC, formerly of Phillipsburg, NJ, passed away on October 7, 2018, at Countryside Manor in Stokesdale, NC. Betty was born on January 30, 1928 in Stewartsville, New Jersey, daughter of the late Herman Boquist and Eleanor Dixon. She graduated from Phillipsburg High School in 1945. She continued her education with degrees from Centenary College and Northampton Area Community College.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, James Stanley Drake, and her sister, Beverly Boquist LeBovit. She is survived by a son, Theodore Drake and his wife Deborah of Winston Salem, NC: three daughters, Stana Kopczuk and her husband Peter of Albuquerque, NM, Jayne Frankenfield and her husband Neil of Long Branch, NJ and Constance Drakeobrien of Phillipsburg, NJ, 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

During her long life Betty enjoyed spending time with her family, skiing, biking, hiking, sewing, antiquing, sailing, spending time at the ocean, and much more. She passed many of these passions on to her children and grandchildren. She was creative, filled with energy and was proud of her Swedish heritage. She was loved and will be missed.
