Obituary of Shirley Olds Griffin

Mrs. Shirley "Sunny" Olds Griffin passed on December 29, 2020 after a courageous battle with lung cancer. She was born in the Pensacola FL Navy Hospital on August 28, 1945. Her parents, Arthur W Olds and Margaret Letitia Brewton Olds preceded her in death as did her nephew Robert A Bracy. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Michael K Griffin, her sister Patricia Bracy (Bob), her daughter Patricia Griffin Gillispie (Brian), and her son Michael "Ken" Griffin (Elizabeth). In addition surviving are six grandkids Lydia Gillispie, MacAlister Gillispie, Heather Griffin, Holli Griffin, Griffin Gillispie and Melanie Griffin. Sunny was a homemaker and worked in several administrative jobs in nursing homes and insurance. She was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution and researched her family ancestry back to 826 AD. After retirement, she and her husband traveled extensively in the US and internationally. The lives of family and the many friends she made over the years will be poorer for her passing. She will be greatly missed. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Sunnyside Ministry at 319 Haled Street in Winston-Salem, NC 27127.
