Obituary of Scott Alan Hancock

The world lost one of the kindest, most loved, respected and endeared souls on December 1, 2020. Scott Alan Hancock, 60, of Winston Salem, NC passed away at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center and went into the comforting arms of his Heavenly Father. Scott was a loving and devoted husband, father, son, son-in-law, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and a friend to so many. He was always generous with his time and knowledge when it came to helping others – always selfless. He was a wonderful and loving husband and helpmate to his wife, Karen Seal Hancock for 38 years. They shared a love of the ocean and mountains and created so many fond memories while there, but most importantly shared a deep love for their only child, Wesley. Scott was always so very proud of Wesley and beamed with pride every time he had the opportunity to see him perform his music and follow his dream of working in the entertainment industry as a sound engineer. He encouraged and supported Wes in all his ventures throughout his youth and into adulthood, such as soccer, guitar lessons, high school band, Lacrosse, and college musical performances. Scott also adored Wesley’s girlfriend of 8 years, Ashley Gentry, like she was his own daughter. Scott was born in Huntsville, AL, but lived most of his life in Winston-Salem, NC. He was a Mechanical Design Engineer at MAC Panel in High Point, NC. He attended Moss Point High School in Moss Point, MS and graduated from Davie High School, in Mocksville, NC after relocating to NC. He attended Catawba College in Salisbury, NC, and graduated from Guilford College in Greensboro, NC with a Math Major and Physics Minor. He was an extremely intelligent, well-rounded, well-read individual who was also very artistic. He was so humble; he rarely shared his artwork with others. Scott is survived by his wife, Karen Seal Hancock, his son, Wesley Alan Hancock (Ashley Gentry) of Kernersville, NC, his parents, Robert and Linda Hancock of Fayetteville, TN, three brothers: Eric Hancock (Sandy) of Colorado Springs, CO, Chad Hancock (Stacy) of Fayetteville, TN and Brad Hancock (Jennifer) of Fayetteville, TN, and Parents-in-Law, Ronald and Mary Seal of Winston-Salem, NC. He had many very special cousins, nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Scott was predeceased by his mother, Barbara Phillips Savage of Mobile, AL. Scott’s wit, charm, sincerity, generosity, intelligence and endearing smile made him so easy to love and desired to be in his company. He had so many close special friends and relatives that touched his life and supported him through his illness, such as Lloyd Love and Shannon Love of Ocean Springs, MS, Danny and Sherri Ashby of Winston-Salem, NC, Kimberly Nix of Oak Island, NC, Amy Padgett Krieger of Concord, NC, Suzi Wallace Fire of Denton, NC, and Rita Griffin of Sumiton, AL. Scott will be greatly missed by so many loved ones, but we know that we were blessed and privileged that he touched our lives as long as God allowed him to walk this earth. Godspeed, Scott. Until we meet again… Due to current COVID gathering restrictions, there are no immediate plans for a memorial service. The family requests your prayers for peace and comfort. The family would like to sincerely thank Dr. Drew Nunn, and Dr. Audrey Spencer at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center and the many physicians and Comprehensive Cancer Center ICU nurses that went above and beyond to care for Scott during his illness and for the compassion they showed Scott and his family during this most difficult time. May God bless you all.
