Obituary of John A. Trzaskos

Winston-Salem, N.C. - John A. Trzaskos, 71, passed away at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home on September 10, 2018, with his two daughters by his side. 

Born and educated in Amsterdam NY, John was the son of the late John and Florence Trzaskos. He was employed at General Electric Company in Schenectady, NY for 41 years serving as a Mechanic/Machinist/Foreman. In 2012, he relocated and settled in Winston-Salem, N.C.  It was here that he enjoyed warmer weather and spending time with his daughter Renee and her family.

John was a man of many talents and enjoyed many hobbies. He acquired his amateur radio license in his early years, built his personal cabin in the Adirondacks, earned his blue belt through Pai’s Academy Tae Kwon Do in Clifton Park, NY, enjoyed ski trips with the Out of Control Ski Club in Albany, NY, tinkered with electronics and here in Winston-Salem, he was a member and photographer for Hobby Park Radio Control Aircraft Club where he ‘loved’ to build and fly model airplanes. He enjoyed hanging out with the guys doing what they loved, flying airplanes.  He taught his grandchildren to fly and loved spending time with family and friends. John was a caring Father, Grandfather and friend. He will be greatly missed.

John is survived by the mother of his children, Bernadette Trzaskos of Albany; daughters, Renee Trzaskos Elliott (Barry Elliott) of NC, Toni Trzaskos Watches (Gregory Watches) of NY; grandchildren, Garret Elliott, Luke Elliott, Hailey Watches, Adam Watches; cousins, Brian Trzaskos of Geneseo, David Trzaskos of NC, Dawn Chisholm of GA; many friends and extended family members.

A visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m. Saturday September 29 at Salem Funeral home Reynolda Chapel, 2951 Reynolda Rd. Winston-Salem. John was a giving man, donating to Disabled American Veterans, Wounded Warrior Project and Easter Seals.  In lieu of flowers, if you feel led, memorials may be made to one of the above or to an organization of your choice.
