Obituary of Anita Ward

Anita Lynn Ward, 59, of Lexington, passed away on July 24th, 2020, at her home. Her gallant battle with pancreatic cancer is now over and she is at peace. Anita was born February 7th, 1961 in Anniston, Alabama at Fort McClellan Army Base to David L. and Chris (Weddington) Ward, who preceded her in death. She graduated from Central Davidson Senior High in 1979 and enjoyed working in retail management. She had a love of animals and children and cherished time spent talking and visiting. She is survived by her sister, Lenora Ward Smith (Rick) of Vale, NC; 2 nieces, Monica Walser (Steve) of Lexington, and Jennifer Cooper of Galveston, Texas; a great-niece, Maia Cooper and great-nephew, Branson Walser; and numerous cousins and friends who were a source of comfort and support to her over the years. A celebration of her life was held on July 27th, 2020 at the residence that she loved so dearly, with Steve Walser officiating. Anita was a giving person, was very grateful for life and friends, and remained hopeful until the end. She will be sorely missed by all. The family has requested that donations be made to Cancer Services of Davidson County in her memory so that others might benefit from their services like she did. Affordable Cremations of Winston-Salem is serving the family.
