Obituary of Peggy Sue Perkins

Peggy Sue (Muston) Perkins “The Piano Lady” passed away at 4:33 pm on January 13, 2016 in Winston-Salem, NC. Peggy was surrounded by her family and friends, some of whom traveled hundreds of miles to be with her. She was a long time resident of the Indianapolis, IN area, Columbus, MS, and lastly Jonesville, N.C. Peggy was predeceased by her husband, Otis P. Perkins and one sister, Ada A. Muston. She was survived by her son, Steven Morphew, daughter-in-law Monica of Grovetown, Georgia, six grandchildren, seven great grand children, and many nieces and nephews. Peggy was also survived by four brothers, Charles Muston (of Plainfield, IN), Donald Muston of Elizabethtown, PA), Ray Muston of Iowa City, IA), Richard Muston (of Robinson, IL), and one sister, Sara Rutledge (of Tupelo, MS). Peggy was the seventh and youngest child of Irvin R. and Beula B. Muston. She was born in Avon, Indiana and was a graduate of Avon High School and of the Speedway Indiana School of Beauty. She was a licensed beautician and worked at Communications Supervisor at Indiana University until her health would no longer permit it. In spite of many health conditions, Peggy always maintained a cheerful spirit. She enjoyed meeting people, talking with people, playing the piano and singing. Peggy provided much joy, happiness, and encouragement to all she met. She always endeavored to make this world a better place. Peggy had a deep religious faith attending church services regularly. She was one who showed her spirit by supporting others in need. This helped her get through life with tenacity and humor. Peggy was an extremely gifted singer and pianist. One of her proudest accomplishments was when she accompanied Dr. Greg Carroll of the Ink Spots on stage and releasing a record. She played many seasons for her good friend Lee Q. McMillan at the Shatley Springs Resort in N.C. She was in high demand throughout the Carolina region and performed at many venues in Pennsylvania, Indiana, Kentucky, Texas, Florida and Mississippi as well. Peggy, you are greatly missed.
