Obituary of Mary Louise Hubbartt

Mary Louise Bohannon Hubbartt, 93, died peacefully with family at her bedside in Winston-Salem, North Carolina on January 03, 2020. She was born September 12, 1926 in Shawnee, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her loving husband James Edwin Hubbartt, parents George Edmond Bohannon and Ruby Ann Langford and sister Billie Mae Manning. Mary was blessed with a wonderful family and is survived by her children Steven (Linda) Hubbartt, Beth Hubbartt, and Nancy (Joe) Muster; her grandchildren Daniel (Kristen) Hubbartt, John (Jessica) Hubbartt, David (Ashley) Hubbartt, Mary Muster, Jennifer Muster and Christina Muster; five great grandchildren James, Brannon, Ava, Emma and Claire Hubbartt. Mary lived her early childhood years in the Oklahoma and Texas areas moving frequently following her father’s oil business. The family moved to Clay City, Illinois where she finished the 5th – 10th years of school. Mary met Jim in 1941 during high school in Clay City and began their long-lasting relationship. Mary’s family moved several more times between 1943 and 1945, finishing high school in Powell, Wyoming. During this time, Mary and Jim stayed in touch with Jim visiting her when he could. Likewise, Mary would travel by bus to visit Jim. They would attend his school dances and visit his parents and grandparents. Mary joined the WWII Nurses Corps and entered nurses training in Hutchinson, Kansas. She had additional training in pediatrics and psychiatry at City Hospital in Saint Louis, Missouri. She graduated from nursing school in September 1948. By that time, Mary was already engaged to Jim. After marriage, Mary worked as a nurse in Fairview Park Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio. She married her beloved late husband of 70 years, Jim, in 1948. They started their family in 1951 with the birth of Steve. After that time, Mary spent years nurturing their family. Mary was Jim’s true companion in marriage. She enjoyed life after Jim’s retirement visiting family and touring throughout the U.S., Canada, and other countries. A memorial service will be held February 8, 2020 10:00AM at Bethlehem First United Methodist Church, Bethlehem, Georgia. Burial will be at Barrow Memorial Gardens near Winder, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children.
